Mexico is one of the world’s leading pineapple producers. Sabormex® is the proud owner of the most important pineapple processing plant in the country.
The pineapples we use in our products are harvested in the fields of the Mexican states of Veracruz and Oaxaca.
The waste from our harvests is recycled as food for farm animals. Pineapple crowns are replanted, and the rind and core of the fruit are processed in the plant that makes pineapple juice.

Sustainable, clean energy
We have a certified innovative water recuperation plant that recycles rainwater. Through a variety of processes, solids and oils are separated to produce biogas.
To obtain clean water, we use an ultrafiltration system:
1. Activated carbon filters eliminate 99% of water contaminants.
2. We have closed reactors containing 2,200 m3 of purified water a day.
Thanks to this process, we have reduced annual water consumption by 14.7% In addition, we have received the following awards and certifications:
To consume less energy and produce the same intensity of light, we have embraced LED and solar panel technology. We use high-efficiency, low electric energy consumption machines. The solar panels help to light the entire exterior walls of the plant.
Job Self-management in Safety and Health Certification (PASST in Spanish) is granted to companies that fulfill certain system, management and regulatory requirements to ensure employee safety.
PASST aims to comply with the applicable regulation in employee safety and health in our head offices: Main Center of Loading and Unloading Distribution, Production Plant, Sabormex Vallejo and Sabormex Viga are proud recipients of this certification. The automated packaging processes that we have in our plant helps in the granting of this certification.
We comply with zero job-related accident and illness regulations, zero deaths or permanent or temporary disabilities that do not reach a 5% incidence rate.
On the other hand, in addition to providing a safe environment for its workers, Sabormex® supports them and their families with vaccination and visual health campaigns that emphasize the importance of prevention.
